H3X Technologies has released the HPDM-180R, a high performance integrated motor drive system that delivers 180 kW of continuous power in a compact, lightweight 16 kg package. This all-in-one unit combines an electric motor, silicon carbide inverter, and planetary gearbox into a single unit, enabling exceptional power density and system efficiency.
With a power density of 11 kW/kg and an optimized 3,000 RPM output speed, the HPDM-180R is engineered to simplify drivetrain integration while maintaining peak system efficiency of 94.6%.
Technology Highlights:
- High Thermal Conductivity, Partial Discharge Resistant Stator Winding: Delivers >40% improvement over conventional windings in terms of maximum continuous current density due to high fill factor (>70%), high thermal conductivity (> 5 W/m-K bulk), and high temperature capability (265 °C for 20,000 hours)
- Integrated Silicon Carbide Inverter: State-of-the-art discrete SiC devices enable an ultra-high-density inverter, featuring high switching speeds, advanced common-mode filtering, and an in-house developed self-sensing rotor position algorithm for exceptional performance and efficiency.
- Structural Synergistic Cooling Jacket: Simultaneous cooling of the power electronics and stator with a single additively manufactured cooling jacket, enabling seamless integration of the motor and inverter.
- Integrated Planetary Gearbox: A compact 6.7:1 single-stage planetary gearbox, designed for high efficiency and durability, reduces the 20,000 RPM motor speed to 3,000 RPM at the output shaft.
